Tuff began with Magma. Set as text, they appear very similar, and are quite comfortable as typographic companions. The child-safe softness of Tuff owes something to the earliest extant Greek manuscript, The Persae by Timotheos in the 4th century BCE. It is beholden to Morris Fuller Benton's original Souvenir, and its revival by Ed Benguait. My own ITC Stone Informal was an influence. There is also an affinity with Dennis Pasternak's well- executed Maiandra based on lettering by Oz Cooper.

The "School" version of the font differs only in the characters "a", "g", and the figures.
