Tuff began with Magma. Set as text, they appear very similar, and are quite comfortable as typographic companions. The child-safe softness of Tuff owes something to the earliest extant Greek manuscript, The Persae by Timotheos in the 4th century . It is beholden to Morris Fuller Benton's original Souvenir, and its revival by Ed Benguait. My own ITC Stone Informal was an influence. There is also an affinity with Dennis Pasternak's well- executed Maiandra based on lettering by Oz Cooper.

The "School" version of the font differs only in the characters "a", "g", and the figures.
